It was inspiring to visit the Children’s wing, Cancer Ward at the Kamla Nehru Hospital in Prayagraaj, UP last week when I was visiting. We opened the library on the 27th of February, 2020 just before Covid with Rotary Blub of Allahabad Elite and went back to replenish the supplies and understand the needs of the children there on Saturday, 10th July, 2021.
I was accompanied by members of the Rotary Club including CP Ran Naresh Roy, AG Rtn Poonam, VP Rtn Arinndam and Secretary Rtn Alka Das. Rtn Dr Sonia Tiwari has been a wonderful support in keeping the library going and helping us replenish frequently. Padma Shri Rtn B Paul Thaliath, additional director of the Regional Cancer Centre and the Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology is so motivating and inspiring encouraging us to keep at it and keep the children’s spirits up.
We were able to add colours and colouring books to the supplies and gave each child a kit as they seem to. love drawing. I am sharing some pictures from the visit and the art they have made with supplies we have shared in the past. We learned that some of the children would like to do sewing, embroidery and knitting type handicrafts and that is what we are collecting for them over the next month. We would like to give the children and the parents who patiently stand by their side, something to do to keep their minds occupied and creativity flowing.
